Lighting is a very important element in any room, and choosing the right table lamps help set the tone for your space. Your table lamps can be works of art, creating not only lighting, but a design element in your home.
Interior Design by Pineapples, Palms, Etc.
Lamps can add elegance, drama or create a casual feel, depending on their shape, size and composition of materials used in the base, as well as the shade. For example, a clear crystal lamp base, with a white linen shade add a touch of elegance and formality to the space, while a ceramic base lamp with a textured or woven shade make the room feel more relaxed. Our driftwood and metal lamp below becomes a focal point suggesting a modern, organic and coastal lifestyle. These are just some of the roles your lighting plays in your home, and that is why we suggest carefully selecting your lamps that will reflect the personality and style you desire.
Many of our lamps have organic, natural bases, utilizing materials like agate, driftwood and coral, which work well in transitional, modern or coastal homes.
Art is a great way to express yourself and give a space personality. The right piece of artwork can transform a space. When choosing a piece of art for your home, think about the following:
Mood: Think about what mood you want to create. Perhaps you want a relaxing and comfortable space, something more sophisticated, or a buttoned-up, formal look.
Space: What look do you want? Transitional? Something modern? Or coastal and clean?
Location: Look at your walls and furniture and decide where the art will be placed. Popular locations for artwork are over a sofa, bed or console. Think about whether you want one large piece of art or a grouping of smaller pieces.
When choosing artwork for your home, think about what style you want to achieve. Do you like landscapes, abstract or soft watercolors? Photography, shadowbox art or paintings? For a coastal look, consider using art that features organic, natural elements like the art in the photo below.
The Pineapple Girls love using whites, blues and seaglass hues in the coastal homes we design. Crisp, white slipcovered furniture and white accessories can act as great canvas, and art is placed to add some color.
Finally, when hanging your art, make sure to hang it in a comfortable spot, where the art is eye-level. One of the biggest mistakes people make when hanging art is to hang it too high. A general rule is to hang the art so that the middle of the piece is at 57″ high.
The Pineapple Girls love trays. They are functional, and great for organizing personal objects but can also add a nice pop of color and style to a space.
There are so many options for tray decor. We love them on a coffee table, a bedside table or even in your foyer by the entrance to your home. A great way to reduce clutter, trays are perfect for storing magazines, keys and small decorative objects.
Utilizing an ottoman instead of a coffee table is very popular, but where do you put your drink? A beautiful tray does the trick!
Trays can also be used for serving at a casual or formal gathering. A stylish tray can can serve as a quick and portable bar, just by adding some cute beverage napkins, a bottle of wine and cocktail glasses.
We adore these printed trays by one of our favorite brands, AERIN. Aerin Lauder is a granddaughter of Estée Lauder. Aerin spent 25 years working for the family beauty business before introducing Aerin, her own beauty, home and luxury lifestyle label, in 2012. Her products are true luxury, and we love having them as part of our collection.
We are also in love with these easily customizable lucite trays. We’ve added a custom fabric to create a design element in the photo below. You can also proudly display your favorite photo. It’s so easy to change your photo, fabric or wallpaper anytime! To change the photo, fabric or wallpaper just separate second backing from magnets.
In Florida, we love embracing the Fall season in a coastal and sophisticated way. Fall decor does not have to go in an obvious direction, utilizing only an orange palette. The Pineapple Girls adore the simplicity and elegance of white pumpkins. To create a beautiful centerpiece, pair a few white pumpkins with an organic bowl and some fresh flowers. A white antler adds a modern touch.
We love using natural elements in home decor, and bringing the outdoors inside is a great trend for Fall. The Palecek River Stick Lanterns below are composed of assorted natural driftwood, and were hand-formed into a hurricane with a glass insert. We love the organic look, and how the air bubbles, swirls and discoloration in the glass is part of the natural beauty of the hand-blown recycled glass.
Here’s a handy how-to-guide for creating a beautiful centerpiece for your Fall gathering. Happy Fall from the Pineapple Girls!

The right lighting can completely transform a room and the Pineapple Girls love a great statement chandelier! When choosing a fixture, first think about what type of look you are going for in the space. Do you want to create casual elegance? An organic, coastal look? Or perhaps you are going for something very modern.
There are so many great options. The Modern Farmhouse look is definitely trending. We love this look, mixing rustic with clean, modern lines. The chandelier below would look great with a distressed farmhouse table in a dining room. Add some contemporary upholstered seating to complete the look.
Denison Lantern
Beaded chandeliers are also extremely popular. The beads can create a calming, spa feel in your bedroom or bathroom. The hemp on the chandelier below creates a more casual look so you can use the piece in other spaces than the dining room.

Tips for hanging your chandelier:
When you are ready to hang your chandelier, do not skimp on the time it takes to do the job right. It should be held securely in place with the proper fasteners. Hire a professional to make sure the job is done correctly.
When hanging a chandelier make sure it is at least 48” from all the walls to avoid overwhelming a small room.
Chandeliers have lots of bulbs. Make sure to use low watt bulbs to avoid both excessive heat and glare. Add a dimmer switch to add mood lighting to any room.
In order to guarantee that the view of dinner guests is not blocked unnecessarily, hang your chandelier approximately 30”-34” above the table
A chandelier should be in proportion to table it hangs over, keep the width to around 12 inches narrower than table should do the trick.
We are so excited to announce our new collection of pillows, created exclusively for Pineapples, Palms by acclaimed artist and textile designer Amanda Johnson. The beautiful linen pillows are luxuriously overstuffed and make us think of the white-washed bungalows of Santorini and the jeweled blues of the Aegean Sea.
A beach house should offer a magnificent feeling of freedom and openness in your home, while providing a comfortable, convenient space for you and your family. Even if your property isn’t right on the water, there are some intriguing must-have items that are suited to coastal living and that bring the sand and surf to mind whenever you enter your home.
Outdoor Slipcovered Sofa
The durability of an outdoor sofa makes it a natural choice in a beach home, and these furnishings can be warmed up for the indoors with a slipcover. Consider covering your sofa with something that is neutral, to maintain the open, airy feeling of the space. An outdoor slipcovered sofa also makes it easy to clean and launder. A great choice that brings a coastal vibe to the home is the Cabana Outdoor Sofa, which is as stylish and comfortable inside as it is out.
Shatterproof Wine Glasses
Everyone enjoys beautiful barware but this may be impractical on the beach. Consider using our Govino Shatterproof Wine Glasses to provide plenty of glasses without worrying over broken glass goblets. These stemless wine glasses demonstrate that you don’t have to compromise beauty for function, and our exclusive pineapple design is a welcoming symbol for your guests and melds with a coastal-inspired table.
Coastal Accent Items
A few personal and pretty accents bring your own flair to the home; consider some sea – inspired accents to stick with the oceanic aura. Keep these pieces to a minimum and select those that really speak to you and reflect your sense of style.
Textiles and pillows are a great way to bring the colors of your space together. If you are using white on the walls, these items will provide you the opportunity to add some of your favorite pops of color in the home. The Custom Coordinates Newport Stripe pillows are perfect for creating your color theme, bringing just a bit of oceanic blue to your interiors. The personalized coordinates printed on the pillow add an intriguing detail reflecting your chosen location. Textured floor covering and neutral-toned rugs can also make a room seem larger, while providing the cozy comforts of home.
Outdoor Lighting
Use ambient accents to provide lighting in your home, while also bringing a coastal atmosphere to your interiors. Nickel lanterns are the perfect accent that provides ample ambient light for daily living, while bringing a vintage-style rusticity that complements clean, modern décor. Consider using dimmers, desk, and floor lamps to augment your ambient fixtures, and to add an additional layer and mood to your home.
Beach Home Must-Haves
A beach house embraces clean, light features which helps to create the open, airy atmosphere that reflects a home on the water. Avoid weighing down the space with clutter, and choose your accents and fixtures carefully. Keep a color palette in mind that reflects the sea- pale blues, greens, and whites. Be choosy and add a few favorite accents that will elevate your casual, coastal vibe into an elegant and sophisticated space that you are proud to show-off.
